Harnett County

Tingen Place is located the heart of Harnett County, NC. The main population centers in Harnett County include Lillington, the county seat, Angier, and Dunn. Harnett County enjoys a moderate and temperate climate, with an average temperature in July of 78° and an average temperature of 39° in January. While it only snows about 2.5 inches a year here, Harnett enjoy torrential rains in the spring and summer months, which average about 48 inches / year.

The population in Harnett County in 2005 was about 102,000 inhabitants, and is the 8th fastest growing county in the state of North Carolina.

There are eight (yes count ‘em E-I-G-H-T) golf courses in the area. Anderson Creek, a Davis Love golf course, was selected by the North Carolina magazine as the "Best New Course for 2001." Campbell University's Keith Hills Golf Club was voted as one of the "top 100 values" by Golf Digest, and is a championship facility. Other golf courses that are close by include, Bentwinds Golf & Country Club, Crooked Creek Golf, Pine Burr Golf Course, Sandy Ridge Country Club, Chicora Country Club, and  Ponderosa Golf Club.

The Pinehurst area, home of the future 2014 US Open  is only 45 minutes away, and in less than two hours, you can play on the championship courses in Myrtle Beach, SC while you have fun in the water and sun!

Raven Rock State Park, located near Lillington, is a 4,667-acre park on the Cape Fear River and features a variety of activities for the outdoorsman, including camping, fishing, horseback riding, hiking and canoeing.

Public tennis courts, parks, municipal sports leagues and many area lakes provide recreation throughout the year.

There are 6 public libraries in the area, including the Harnett County Public Library Lillington.

And for the artist in you, The Harnett County Arts Council  is an organization that facilitates a number of interests in the art world, including the Harnett Regional Theater, the Harnett Art Guild, the Helena Wade Music Club and the Cape Fear Writers Guild. There are as theatrical productions, appearances by regional dance groups, performances by the North Carolina Symphony and guest lectures and exhibits.
