Harnett County has a community college that offers courses and programs that are associated with local businesses and industries, and provide concentrations in a variety of technical and professional areas. Its greatest accolade is the fact that CCCC has the only laser and fiber optics laboratory in the Southeast, and boasts the largest training program in this field between Florida and Boston! Harnett County is the proud home of the prestigious Campbell University, a private, four-year institution which offers professional degrees in law, pharmacology, business, education and divinity as well as a wide variety of undergraduate degrees. Campbell is North Carolina's second largest private university.
There are also thirteen other colleges and universities are within a one-hour drive of Harnett county, including three major research universities: Duke University in Durham, University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill and North Carolina State University in Raleigh.
